Change.
Through the Knights of Columbus Council at King’s College, I’m going to try to set up a mentoring program at G.A.R. High School to try to help mediate racial tension and conflicts between students. I was just sworn in three hours ago. #taketheinitiative.

Chapter 1: I’ll never forget that moment. Sitting there in an overly decorated, centrally heated, horrificly outdated office, I replayed her words in my head as I sat there. “No, it’s Chris Simkonis; he has no family.” That’s what I really just heard. And that was the moment that I realized the absolute truth behind that statement. I had been shunned, abandoned, outcasted,...

Well a holistic healer Found my rhythm Wasn’t right in my mind Drop a bomb now, singin’ the song like a teacher Can say, “Your lessons are long!” But you grow and remain Have to shout at you What did you do? Sorry To have to shout at you but What did you do? Sorry Oh yeah (yeah!) Speak from the beginning I wonder often No one there, someone there, or a crowd And the...

Back to Black
“Doing a presentation of archaeological information and ancient sources is fine.  Going into the project with the notion of “proving” the great flood story/stories is not a particularly good historical approach though.  Just be sure that your paper stays in the realm of history rather than drifting into that of theology.” That’s the response I got from my...

Your Daily Me
After graduating high school in 2008, I felt a sudden urge to explore. I had stayed in the same town almost my entire life, and the mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania were the only environment I knew. I had explored the highest mountains, the lowest valleys, and everything in between through hiking, adventuring, photography, and writing. Upon graduating, I tried to travel to as many...

Things that make me happy.
Pajamas at breakfast. Old school cash registers. Doing your own thing. Shrugging my shoulders when nothing gets done. Singing in the shower. An alarm clock that tells you when to get up…..and why. “I Brake For Rainbows” stickers. Secret love notes. Exploring. Yard Sales. Street musicians. Campfire parties. Fireworks. Secret Passages. Cardigans. Artistic License. ...

Breakfast of Champions
No one lives forever.     -Feed the hungry.     -Give drink to the thirsty.     -Clothe the naked.     -Shelter the homeless.     -Visit the sick.     -Visit those in prison.     -Bury the dead. Matthew 25:34 “…And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of my brethren, you did it to me.”

When Kids Used To Want To Be President.
Goal? Yeah, I have one. To make damn sure that every single person I meet from this day forward is affected positively by me. To spread love. To change. To listen. To speak. To Live. Restate my assumptions. This is The Resolution of Chris Simkonis. I will change my neighborhood. I will change this town. I will spread happiness and positivity. I will be a friend, a brother, a husband, and a father....

Knights
I’m being sworn in as a Knight of Columbus on Wednesday night. My grandfather was one. If you don’t know anything about them, they’re basically a Catholic fraternal organization that commits as much time, resources, and money to charity and the community as they possibly can. Sounds like my type of thing. John 2:10 “He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and...

"Every Sermon Is Not The Gospel"
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about people. But, more so, about their purpose. Upon first meeting people, should we be trying to impress them? Should we be more concerned about how they’re feeling or more concerned about how we’re feeling? That is, should I be more focused on finding out about you, or about expressing myself honestly and correctly? But even further than that,...

Purpose.
Usually when I meet new people, one of the first questions I ask them is, what do you think the purpose of life is? Why are we here? I mean it on a very personal level, like why are you here? I tend to try to get very involved in people’s lives, because I think that everyone has something very special about them and most peoples minds are filled with so much. I’m not looking to try...
